Ok, so I am not very good at remembering to blog! It seems with keeping both of my shops running, keeping my family running and then remembering to keep myself running I tend to run out of time :)

I am announcing something new today though :) I have started a new shop on zibbet.com. Haven't heard of zibbet yet? Well, let me just tell you about it. Zibbet is another world for handmade items. Very similar to etsy, just not as pricey to the sellers. It is still new, but well worth setting up a shop on I believe. I have watched it growing in the recent weeks, so last night I decided to finally set up my shop. I am going to be working on adding more of my items from my etsy shop over to my zibbet shop in the coming days. I have well over 200 items to add, so it may take me a while. Sure has been a long time

Well, I definitely apologize for not posting more. Seems that each day life gets a little more hectic and I find no time to slow down. I am going to TRY to be better. Note I say try, as I am definitely a work in progress :)

A few updates on my little corner of the world:

1: My etsy shop is growing steadily. I continue to offer great craft supplies at near wholesale prices for small quantities. You can find my supply shop here .

2: I have started a facebook fan page for both of my shops. I generally let all of my fans know of the new items I will be listing before I list and I also ask for feedback from them on what new items they would like to see. If you would like to join my facebook fan page click here .

3: I am carrying some beautiful new flowers, headbands and crochet hats :) I hope to start offering them for sale on my facebook page, my own website and my blog soon.

Now, as the personal life goes :

Both of my daughters are playing softball this year. Emerald is playing rec league and travel ball. Lauren is playing mini mites rec league. They both are so very excited! Trey is 20 months old now and quite the handful. He is VERY active and constantly getting into things, I guess that is expected with a boy, or at least that's what I'm told from those with experience LOL.

When I first started selling on etsy, I didn't expect to start a supply shop. I was only selling my handmade creations. As I have gotten more into the etsy scene and looked for more suppliers for my items I realized quickly that I could create my own niche. I started the store in March of 2009 but just let it sit empty for several months before I was finally prepared to do something with it. About 2 weeks ago I started listing more items in my store. I now have 24 sales in that store already. I am shocked and pleased at the same time! I am able to offer small quantity items at close to wholesale prices. Come on in and browse around. My little Graduates!

Wow! I can't even believe that I am saying that I have graduates! Yes, my 5 year old just graduated pre-school and my 11 year old has just graduated 5th grade! I still cannot get over how fast they have grown. I can remember holding them and rocking them as babies and now they are growing up so fast. I am having a very hard time believing that I will be the mother of a middle schooler next year. I remember crying when she got on the bus for her first day of kindergarten. She is so excited though! My 5yr old is very excited to be starting kindergarten also. She is doing a countdown for the beginning of school. I just want to enjoy summer vacation though! I will be sharing a pic of my 11yr old graduate as soon as I can find it in the 1000's of pics I have LOL.

Monday again

So I really spent a lot of time thinking about what this picture said before I decided to write today. I think so many of us just hate Mondays simply because that means another weekend is gone and the work week has started all over again. I can remind myself that I only have 1 more Monday to endure for this school year :). This definitely makes me happy. But then again, I want to make sure that I make my days count instead of just counting the days.

Today I want to challenge all of my readers to perform a random act of kindness. Maybe it is something as simple as smiling at a co-worker, or pushing the grocery cart back to the cart holder for someone else, something that could make someone else happy. Make today count! Show just how wonderful the human spirit really is!

I am SO glad it is friday. What a week! Even though it was a short week it was filled with emergencies and this has to be done RIGHT NOW!!!! It always seems that the work week after a holiday is so hectic. I look forward now to taking a deep breath and letting my troubles float away as I lounge around on my boat at the lake!

I got this great idea to change up my blog yesterday and have 3 columns. I found the free template (like my old one, just 3 columns instead of 2) and changed it. I lost all of my widgets (sigh) and have been working slowly to re-instate some of those. I didn't like the width of my page, so I started trying to figure out how to change it. I did that successfully, but it didn't change the width of the columns!!!! UGH! My columns are literally on top of each other. I can't figure out how to space them out more. I don't know much about html, only enough to probably have totally screwed up my template at this point. HELP!!!

I finally decided it was time to read Twilight! I had put it off for so long, simply because I rarely have enough time to just sit down and read a book. Now!!!!!!.......I'm hooked! Hopelessly hooked! I HAVE to read the next book now. I finished the book in about 7 hours of total reading over a 3 day period. Thank goodness I only have 9 more working days until summer :)

Can't seem to keep up

Do you ever have those days where your mind is going much faster than you can possible go? Kind of like you are in a whirlwind? That's how it has been for the last week for me. In my mind I keep planning all these wonderful things that I can make or do and then realize I don't have the time or the materials to bring them to fruition. It is really annoying. I have tons of supplies at my house, but I sometimes find myself getting bored with the same things. I am looking into expanding my accessories line even more. I want to include more items for teens and adults in my store. What types of things would you, my readers, want to see? I have been making adult necklaces, but all the ones I have made are already sold, so I don't bother taking pictures to list them because often times I don't have the beads to duplicate them with. I try to make as many OOAK items as I can, because I know that we all enjoy being unique.

Summer can't come soon enough!

I am SOOOO ready for summer. About mid-March I begin to get the "lake itch"! We are fortunate enough to own a place at Smith Mountain Lake. We try to spend as much time there during the summer months as we can. We generally go down on Friday afternoons and come home Sunday nights while school is still in session and then spend even more time during the summer months. The lake is about a 45 minute drive from our year round home.

The positives of being at the lake are that we have a boat, seadoos, can fish when we want and swim when we want. We have a floating dock and the water is generally no less than 10ft deep off the end of our dock. The kids enjoy running and jumping into the water off the dock. Often times I just sit on the boat while they swim. I am always relaxed while there! Often times finding myself falling asleep by 9pm :)

The disadvantages of the lake: NO DISHWASHER!!! Wow, I just never realized how much I depended on my dishwasher at home LOL. Also there are only 2 bedrooms (5 people) and 1 bathroom.

Yes, it is small! But it is ours! :)

Writers Block

I have complete and total writers block today. I have stared at this page for quite some time now and I keep wondering if I have anything really relevant to talk about today.

I guess I could tell you about our earthquake on saturday morning. It registered a whopping 3! It happened at 4:08 am and brought me very quickly out of bed. I have never experienced an earthquake before and all I can say is that I was quite scared when it first happened. My hubby and I both thought that we were having a bad thunderstorm due to the windows rattling and the loud sound, even thought the house may have been struck by lightening. When we figured out that that had not happened, we were afraid someone might have run into our house, so we went outside. Nothing! So my hubby decided it had to be an earthquake. I laughed, thinking, an earthquake in VA,,,,,,no way!!!! But sure enough it was true. The epi-center was only about 2 miles from our house. I was SHOCKED!

Well, look at that. I start writing and the block fades away :)

Rain Rain Go Away

So, the last 3 softball games for my oldest daughter have been cancelled due to rain! :( We had a shortened season this year anyway, and now it will be even shorter which has everyone a little ticked off. We were at the field, just a little light rain and the umpires decided that the field was "unplayable". WTH????? The kids had just practiced on the field, and no one got hurt! Sigh...such is the life of a softball parent!

Finally getting it together

I am finally getting my blog looking back to normal again. I totally messed it up about a month ago and just couldn't seem to find the time to get it back to the way it should be. So, FINALLY, I think I have it back to some semblence of a working order. I now have to figure out how to add buttons and logos to the sides. Wish me luck!

One day I want to live here :) This house is close to where our place is at Smith Mountain Lake. This is probably my favorite house on the lake!

Learning how to market myself

I am trying to learn how to market my etsy shop better. I want to drive more traffic there. I would like to know what it is that people want to see. What types of things do they want to buy? I often times wonder if I am the only one who likes the things I make, besides my kids of course. I am trying to branch out to include more womens accessories in my line also. I have made some online contacts that have given me ideas on what to do for womens items and I am currently working on those designs.

Yesterday I took the plunge and went into a new shop that has opened up. I left my card for the owner so that she could see my designs and possibly start carrying my items in her store. I am praying that I will hear back from her.

The rain and the worms that show themselves

It has been raining ALOT in Virginia these past 2 weeks. My husband laughingly says that even the worms are beginning to drown. At my house, I think every worm in the ground is on my sidewalk and driveway. Unfortunately this leads to smooshed worms also YUCK! My 5 yr old daughter finds them quite fascinating though and enjoys watching them slide along. I think about the sweet little Robin who has been showing himself lately around my house. I'm sure its only for the delicassies, but he brings a smile to my face as I hear him singing his sweet song. I'm reminded now that Spring is upon us. I begin feeling myself become lighter, as I enjoy the sunshine more and my time outside. Cabin fever is slipping away now.

Em's big kill!

Yes, my almost 11 year old daughter is a hunter. I'm not sure how this came about honestly. She was always a girly girl growing up, playing with baby dolls and barbies. Then her daddy talked her into going hunting with him and she was hooked. Suddenly there are camo bibs and boots in her room and a hat that says "I do hunt like a girl" emblazoned in pink across the camo. I think back to my younger days and say "maybe she got it from me". Honestly, I remember going hunting with my dad one time and he insisted I should fire my gun. I came home with a sore shoulder and a wrecked self esteem as I distinctly remember seeing that squirrel laugh at me. I think he realized all along he was safe from me. So, obviously she didn't get it from me, but I digress! Last year she shot her first deer on my parents farm. One shot and it went down right where it stood. It was a little doe. This year she had her sights on a buck. I had no doubt that she would succeed in getting her buck this year. Funny thing is, her dad and her both thought this deer was a doe until they got about 5ft from it and it jumped up on them while they were tracking it. Yes, it was a spike! She pounds the air with her fist! She kept the phone hot on their ride home from the farm and called everyone she could think of according to her dad. I am waiting for her with the camera when she gets back. Bundled up in my columbia coat as today it decided to snow. So now I show you the magnificent buck :)

Convincing my hubby to have his picture taken is kind of like convincing our dog that she doesn't need her chew toy! It ain't happening!!! But last night I was in luck! We were all dressed up, unfortunately to attend the wake of my hubby's best friends grandfather, but dressed up all the same. So I decided to grab the camera for a few quick snaps. Now, all of us are not in any one picture of course because I do not have a tripod, but at least you get the picture :)

The pictures aren't the best in the world, but at least we have some to keep now of most all of us together. Now I'm trying to figure out how to convince him to get a Christmas portrait :)

The visitor in my yard

I find myself chuckling as I write this tonight. My dogs, 2 mini schnauzers, are totally terrified of our visitor! He has been waiting patiently nightly for about a week now on my front sidewalk. He sits there, doesn't say anything and doesn't move. He just watches us as we move around him. I sometimes wonder if he is waiting to be kissed so he can turn into a prince again LOL!

My daughters have enjoyed looking at him. Not exactly a handsome fella, but he looks like he is eating good.

I took the opportunity to take some pictures of my flowers out front also when I took the toads picture. It was night and I used my night flash. It also had just rained. I was impressed with how well these pictures turned out.

All alone today

I dropped Trey off at the sitters this morning at 8:30, trying to prepare myself for the inevitable of returning to work tomorrow. I feel like I am a bad mother for having to work outside of the home. I need to work outside the home to pay the bills though.

Today I am going to occupy some time by working on my website and listing some of the kids outgrown clothing on ebay. I guess I really should be cleaning my house and doing laundry, but they of course will wait patiently on me LOL.

Preparing to return to work

yes, it has been a while since I have written. I am now the proud mother of a beautiful baby boy. Trey was born on July 22 and weighed 7lbs 10oz and was 19 inches long. I am totally in love with him, along with my 2 girls! Our family is now complete. As you can see in this picture, he is not quite sure what he has gotten himself into.

I found myself in the daunting task of having to find a babysitter for my little man, since financially I will have to return to work. I found a young lady who just recently graduated from Virginia Tech. She also has an 8 month old daughter. She will only be keeping Trey, which definitely makes me happy. I know that I will cry when I have to return to work next week though. He has only stayed with her for about 2 hours one day last week by himself. I'm scared about leaving him, angry that I have to return to work, and wishing I could win the lottery! Now is a great time for a plug about my business :) Go to my website and buy bows and headbands so I can afford to stay home with my little man!

I have to return to work on October 1. I am dreading the day. I cry thinking about it. :(

Memorial Weekend events

We are heading out of town this weekend to spend it at our lake house. I am quite excited to be going, but I think the girls are much more excited than I am at this point. They both are looking forward to fishing since it is still too cold to be able to swim, at least here in central VA anyway.

I have so many things I still need to accomplish before my son arrives, sometime in the next 6-8 weeks. I just shake my head as I think of the things I need to do. My husband is working so many hours right now on the new project his company has that it is making it hard to accomplish much of anything here. Then of course we coach softball for our daughters team, so that takes up a lot of our time too. We are trying to find a dependable contractor currently to finish up the addition to our house so we can start moving the girls into their new bedrooms to make room for their little brother. He will most likely sleep in our room for the first 2-3 months though.

Our day at the lake

Today we all got up early and went to our lake house. We are trying to get everything ready for this coming up Memorial Day weekend. We did odd and end things such as cleaning up and laundry. My husband also worked on our boat. He put a new trolling motor on and began working on putting in new fishing seats. We took our girls fishing for a little while also. I wish I had remembered to bring my camera. Lauren, my 4yr old, caught 3 carp and 1 perch with the help of her daddy. My silly dogs both fell into the lake while trying to catch the bait on the fishing line :) It seems they will never learn!

After I put the girls in bed tonight I have a wholesale order of korker bows I need to work on. It takes a long time to prepare the ribbon to make these, but they are by far some of the cutest bows I make.

Getting started on blogging
